The best coves in Lanzarote

El Pozo – Yaiza –: Located on the South East, it is an isolated beach with black sand and calm sea. In this place, on sunny days, you can see sand dunes of Corralejo on Fuerteventura and a small island called Lobos in the distance. It might be difficult to access the cove for some people because it is only accessible by paths from Playa Arena. It is a long walk which takes half an hour to complete, that is the reason why it is rarely visited. Since you might have to step into a bit of  water during the walk, we recommend you wear water shoes.

Caletón Blanco – Órzola-Haria –: This white sand beach, close to Órzola village, is a must visit after going to Jameos del Agua. It is a quiet cove of volcanic origin which presents shallow rock pools with a beautiful blue colour. It is a fantastic place to enjoy nature since many migratory birds go there, as they can recover their strength for their crossing and feed themselves in ponds.

Bañadero de Guatiza: the rocks in this cove create a shape similar to a dam, which protects the cove from wind flows and waves. You can get to this peaceful place by car and it is not too far from Arrecife and other popular areas.

Calas de la Peñita – Puerto del Carmen –: if you do not want to get too far away from Puerto del Carmen, but you wish to stay away from the crowded areas, Calas de la Peñita might be a wonderful cove for you. It is a peaceful place which offers golden sand, good weather, and spectacular views of Los Ajaches, with Fuerteventura and Lobos Island as a background. The main advantage of this area is that it is really close to many restaurants and bars, so you can enjoy a delicious meal and then continue enjoying the coves.

Cueva de Doña Juana – Puerto del Carmen –: it is a small cove – 60 metres -, known as well for being a cove close to a hotel named Los Fariones. It is a quiet cove, made of volcanic sand, sheltered from the wind, and very child friendly. However, its access might be a bit difficult. You can get to the cove starting at Playa Chica, throughout  a rock path and go down the old steps, but it is worth the effort.
