If you like adventure, the outdoors and enjoy nature in all its splendour, a trip to the island of La Graciosa will not disappoint you. This island can be explored in a day, but if you want to take it easy and you enjoy camping, you can reserve a place in the only camping in La Graciosa. It will be a unique experience!

Where do you find the camping of La Graciosa?

Keep in mind that the La Graciosa island is a Natural Park and, therefore, a protected area. That means that free camping is not allowed. To do this, you must apply for a camping permit online several months in advance.

On the beach of "El Salado", next to Caleta de Sebo (main urban centre of La Graciosa), the Cabildo of Lanzarote enabled a few years ago a free camping area to help travellers enjoy this experience that is so popular among nature lovers.

To go camping in La Graciosa, you must board a ferry in Lanzarote to the port of Caleta de Sebo. The journey only lasts 25 minutes. From there, the 'El Salado' campsite can be reached on foot from the port of Caleta de Sebo following the s sandy streets, since there are no paved roads on this island. In this town you can stock up on all the necessary provisions for your camping. To the south, where the town ends, you will find a small house with services and then the camping area, delimited by poles that indicate the number of the plot.

The campsite is located on the second line of the beach, which is easily accessed from the camping area. El Salado is a very extensive isolated beach, and its calm waters promise an ideal break for the whole family. With its fine white sand, this rustic beach of almost two kilometres, it is a paradise for relaxation. You will be delighted with the views to the Risco de Famara of Lanzarote and, in addition, you can enjoy splendid sunsets.

How to make a camping reservation in La Graciosa?

To book the camping slot, you must take into account that La Graciosa is a very requested destination, so you need to make a reservation up to two months in advance. Reservations are made only online at the Online Reservation Centre of the Autonomous Agency of National Parks.

The camping site is divided into 50 plots and a maximum capacity of 200 people. Each plot has a maximum capacity of 10 people and you cannot exceed 7 days of stay. On the web page with the map of the location of each plot, you can choose the one that suits best.

As La Graciosa is a Natural Park, you will have to respect the camping conditions, their rules and regulations set out in the reservation clauses. It is important to maintain and respect the environment and the coexistence with the rest of the travellers.

What to bring to camp at La Graciosa?

The campsite is located in a rustic area, it only has a house of services (toilets and showers) that are for community use. There are no additional services such as stalls to buy supplies or rent tents, so you must bring your own camping equipment.

The essential elements that we recommend you to take with you are:

  1. Tents (if they are small you can place more than one in your parcel)

  2. Sleeping bag

  3. Water, lots of water (it is forbidden to take water to bathrooms and to use it outside the toilet area).

  4. Garbage bags (garbage and residues need to be collected)

  5. Toilet paper

  6. Sun cream with a high level sun protection

  7. Comfortable footwear for walks on sandy roads and beaches

  8. Food that does not require cooking (fires, barbecues, the use of gas bottles, stoves, etc. are not allowed). Likewise, in Caleta de Sebo you can eat at the bars or look for products in the supermarket.

What activities can I do while camping in La Graciosa?

The beach where the camping of La Graciosa is located invites you to rest and to disconnect from the world. It is a quiet beach where you can enjoy sunbathing, beach games with friends or your family, you can dive or snorkel in its crystal clear waters and appreciate the wealth of marine fauna and flora in the area.

You can venture around the island hiking or cycling. If you choose to cycle and have not brought your own bicycle, you can go to Caleta de Sebo to rent one. There are a few beaches to visit in La Graciosa that will leave you impressed.

If you want to explore the island from the camping site to the south, in just 45 minutes’ walk, you can reach the Playa de la Francesa. It is a quiet beach with wonderful views of Montaña Amarilla. Just 10 minutes’ walk away you will find another beach that will also reward you with fantastic views, this beach called La Cocina, is a small cove that is located under the Montaña Amarilla. The landscape of this cove fascinates travellers by its colours, where the yellow of the mountain and the browns and reds of the vegetation contrast with the turquoise, blue and green tones of the sea. It is an excellent cove for enjoying its very calm waters with children.

If you are going north, you should visit the village of Pedro Barbas. More to the northeast you have the Playa de las Conchas, the walk is longer, but it is something not to be missed for its magnificent views of the islets of Clara and Alegranza.
