Discover the most interesting excursions you can do from Puerto Calero
Lanzarote has one of the most prestigious marinas in Spain, which is undoubtedly unique. Puerto Calero is a sports pier, which stands out as an oasis of tranquility in a volcanic environment. In addition, from Puerto Calero you can access various excursions that will make you fall in love even more with Lanzarote and its landscapes.
Timanfaya National Park
This lunar landscape of bare hillsides had volcanic activity between 1730 and 1736, generating one of the most beautiful and iconic scenes in Spain that varies enormously in color at the whim of the time and season of the year. It consists of huge craters that are complemented by long fields of ash and solidified lava. This describes a desert climate that is not found anywhere else.
In addition, the experience includes an optional camel ride available at the dromedary station in the Timanfaya National Park. This trip is a must when visiting Lanzarote.
Bear in mind that reaching this park on your own is illegal due to the risk involved, and it is only possible to access through a tourist excursion. In Líneas Romero we offer you the option of accessing this charming natural landscape.
A catamaran ride along the coast
From Puerto Calero there are several routes along the coast of Lanzarote, including rides aboard catamarans. From itineraries that line the coast of Papagayo Beach, to excursions that go deeper into the ocean and include drink and food services, snorkeling and even kayaking, which last a whole day.
Although some are services for the whole family, many others are offered for adults only, since they include more romantic activities for trips as a couple.
These catamarans always make routes so that they stop at points of interest, being able to dive alongside the oceanic fauna in the crystalline waters that expand throughout the panorama. And if you’re lucky you can even see dolphins!
Among the available options, there is also the possibility to rent jet skis and hike around for the more adventurous who wish to experience, more in depth, the essence of Lanzarote.
Cuevas de los Verdes
Timanfaya offer many possibilities. There you can also experience the huge Cuevas de los Verdes. You are probably thinking that they are, in essence, green. But nothing could be further from reality, they were named after their explorer. These caves, like their surface, are the product of lava from more than 5000 years ago, covering up to 7 km in length. An achievement of wild nature!
This excursion is complemented by a visit to “Jameos del Agua“, a place created by César Manrique in which there are several points of interest. An underground lake, a garden and a concert hall. Jameos del Agua is both a cultural and leisure proposal, ideal for families. The area is in the middle of a lava field of Monte Corona. And it also has a system of tunnels of 6 km, 1.5 km of them under the surface of the water.
Playa Blanca and its market
Playa Blanca is another charming town in the south of the island, a jewel that you should not avoid on your trip. This old village inhabited by fishermen has a large market with traditional craft stalls that provide poetry to each street, where musicians live creating the typical nightlife of Playa Blanca.
On the seafront you will find fashion boutiques, cafes and bars that will invite you to stay at least one night. The town has many restaurants of fresh sea food on the beach.
We recommend you take a swimsuit because you will want to take a dip!
Lanzarote is an island where you will not want to miss a minute of its magic that captivates the most romantic to the most adventurous and explorers. Even so, these are only the excursions that are made from the south, you should know that there are many more.
